Professional Biography
Jonathan Shepherd lives in Franklin County with his wife and kids on their cow/calf and sheep farm. He completed his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kentucky in 2006, and his M.S. in 2009. He worked with the Kentucky Farm Business Management Program for 10 years before returning to campus as a Farm Management Specialist. Jonathan has been an adjunct instructor for AEC 302 (Agricultural Management Principles) since 2012 (spring and fall semesters). He is currently working toward completing his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics (May 2025). Additional responsibilities include roles as an Agricultural Extension Specialist and Director of the UK Income Tax Program. His extension program focuses on general farm management while specializing in farm tax management and farm finance. Jonathan collaborates closely with other Extension and Research faculty in cattle economics, Dairy Gauge, hemp production economics, and machinery economics.
